Dr. Albert Duane Addleman, age 79, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on November 26, 2016. He was born August 30, 1937 in Archie, Missouri to J.B. and Jessie Addleman, he had two sisters and three brothers.
Dr. Addleman received his B.S. from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1959), his M.S. from the University of Missouri-Columbia (1960), and his Ph.D. from Oregon State University (1964).
Dr. Addleman was Assistant Dean at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI from 1970-1985. Dr. Addleman enjoyed a long and exceptional career as an educator and Dean at Missouri State University (1985-2006).
Duane was a lifetime outdoorsman and was recognized as Conservationist of the Year by the Conservation Federation of Missouri (2004). He leaves behind a legacy farm that promotes family, love of the outdoors and conservation.
Duane spent 23 years as a Scoutmaster, 13 years for Troop 114 in Big Rapids, MI and 10 years at Troop 16 in Springfield. In recognition of his work and dedication to the Boy Scouts of America, Duane received the highest leadership honor, The Silver Beaver Award.
In 1959, he married Nancy Ellen Brown, who preceded him in death in 2009. Duane and Nancy shared 50 years of marriage and from this union 4 children were born.
In 2010, he married Nancy Carol Blankenship and their family consisted of three dogs and two cats.
Those surviving him include his wife Nancy; son, Stephen, his wife April and their children, Stephanie and Wyatt of Fishers, IN; daughter, Katie Thieman, her husband Brent and their children, Morgan, Drew, Brooks, and Annie of Springfield; son, Thomas, his wife Robin and their children, Dean and Tred, Harrisonville, MO.
His son Michael preceded him in death and his surviving children are Abby and Daniel Addleman, Cape Girardeau, MO.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 in Westminster Presbyterian Church with Reverend Ellen Brantley officiating, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts Troop 16, Westminster Presbyterian Church, c/o Aaron Van Amber, 1551 East Portland, Springfield, MO 65804.
