Karen Peitz 1949 - 1987

Karen A. Peitz-Stunden, 37 formerly of Hartington NE, died Thursday, July 2, 1987, in a Lincoln hospital following a one-day illness.

Services were at 10:30 AM, Monday, July 6, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Msgr. Cyril Werner officiating.  Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery.  Visitation was from 1-9 pm Sunday, July 5, with rosaries at 7:30 and 8 pm at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington.

Pallbearers were Harold “Hap” Mahaffey, Scot Mahaffey, Bill Essman, Roger Ohlrich, John Parker and Dick Heitman.

Mrs. Stunden, the former Karen A. Peitz, was born July 30, 1949, in Hartington, the daughter of Joseph E. and Sylvia C. (Boeckman) Peitz.  She graduated from Cedar Catholic High School in Hartington in 1967 and from John F. Kennedy College in Wahoo NE in 1971.

She married Terry Stunden on November 6, 1971 in Hartington and they have lived in Lincoln since their marriage.  Mrs. Stunden was a resource consultant specialist for the Handyman Program in Lincoln and was a volunteer for the Lifeline Service.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lincoln.

Survivors include her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Peitz of Hartington, three brothers, Darrell, Tom and Tim, all of Hartington, two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Mary Jean) Hagerty of Omaha and Mrs. Don (Carla) Taylor of Ponca, and a maternal grandmother Mrs. Rose Boeckman of Wynot.
