Lynne Lightner 1938 - 2020
Lynne was born in Topeka, Kansas, to Fritzie and Web Lueders on April 29th, 1938 and passed away July 27th in Firth, Nebraska. She is remembered by daughters Shelley (Tom) Thorpe, Nan (Charles) Burk, and son Kenny (Lisa) Lightner, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, sister, Connie (Del) Lutsenhizer.
Lynne graduated from Southwest High School in Kansas City, Kansas as an All-State Golf Champion. She earned both her Bachelor of Science Education and Master of Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority.
Lynne enjoyed a career teaching and coaching volleyball, basketball, and track and field at Morley Elementary, Lincoln, NE, Sioux Falls High School, Sioux Falls, SD, Waverly High School, Waverly, NE, and John F Kennedy College, Wahoo, NE, where she was awarded teacher of the year (73-74).
After retiring from teaching, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she worked with horses, before returning to Wagners Lake in Columbus, NE.
Lynne is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Nicholas Lightner, and friend Michael Nagel.
Her ashes will be placed with her parents at Columbus Cemetery in Columbus, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
