Audry Copperstone 1915 - 2010
Audry D. Copperstone, 94, of Wahoo, died Friday, January 15, 2010, at Saunders Medical Center in Wahoo. He was born October 29, 1915 at Valparaiso, Neb., to John William and Mary (Koester) Copperstone. Audry married Lucille Thomsen in Lincoln on April 18, 1939.
He served in the U.S. Army, then worked at Mead Ordnance Plant as Assistant Fire Chief. He remained at the Ordnance Plant until it closed in July, 1963. In 1973, he joined the County Assessor's Office as an Appraiser and worked there until he retired in 1988 at the age of 73. Following retirement, Audry and Lucille traveled extensively throughout the world, enjoyed touring the New England States, and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in Honolulu. On April 18, 2009, they celebrated 70 years of marriage.
Preceded in death by parents, 3 sisters, 4 brothers. Survived by wife, Lucille, Wahoo; sons, Gary (Sandy) Copperstone, Branson, Mo., Richard Copperstone, Waverly; brothers-in-law Lloyd (Shirley) Thomsen, Lincoln, Don (Marsha) Thomsen, San Diego, Calif.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Schneider, Lincoln; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson.
