Obituary

Kathy Hunt born Kathleen Corwin on January 6, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York, passed away on February 8, 2019 in Chico, California.

Her parents were Jack and Evelyn Corwin, and she was raised in Uniondale, Long Island.  She was a competitive sprinter with the Long Island Mercurettes track team.  She attended John F. Kennedy College in Wahoo, Nebraska on a track scholarship.

She was an accomplished musician, a solo performer and played lead guitar and vocals for the Country Western group, The Oregon Trail.  The group performed in the Mid-West and Canada and for the USO.

She met her husband Ronald Hunt in Fremont and they were married on September 3, 1974.  Ron was a Police Officer for the Fremont Police Department.  In addition to raising a family, she became active in fundraising and in organizing the Fremont Police Spouse Association of which she was a past president.  She also organized a ‘Dear Hero’ project involving local schools and mailed thousands of cards to military personnel serving in the Gulf and Afghanistan wars and in particular to wounded service members being treated at Walter Reed Hospital.

She was an amazing mother to daughters Julie and Andrea.  She was a ‘Gym Mom’ while both daughters competed in Gymnastics, supported her daughters through High School, College, and into motherhood.  She was an awesome Nana/Grandma to her four grandkids.

She will be remembered for the kindness and love she shared with all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband Ron, daughters Julie and Andrea and their spouses Mike and Jason; her brother Richard and Sister-in-law Connie, brother-in-law Dana and sister-in-law Donna, and grandchildren Sebastian, Logan, Orion and Madison; niece Laurie and Brandy and Nicolas Springer, nephews Richie Corwin, Chad Hunt, Jeff Hunt and family members.
