Jack (Town Tap) Hudkins 1935 - 2022

Jack G. Hudkins, age 87 of Waverly, NE, died Tuesday, October 18, 2022, in Lincoln, NE. He was born October 3, 1935 in Valparaiso, NE to Fred and Minnie Hudkins. Jack married Elizabeth Ann Barth at Grace Lutheran Church in Lincoln on February 14, 1957. Baseball played a major role in Jack’s life. He coached Legion Baseball in Wahoo, high school baseball in Lincoln, and college baseball at Doane College in Crete, NE. Jack made many lifelong friends through baseball and connected easily with people because he had a genuine interest in learning about them. Jack was owner and operator of Jack’s Town Tap in Wahoo in the 1960s. When not working or coaching, Jack enjoyed hunting, vacations in South Dakota, reading, watching old westerns and the NY Yankees. He was a HUGE NY Yankee fan and as Jack would say “There is no other team!”

 Jack is survived by his children: Michael (Retha) Hudkins of Lincoln, Kirk Hudkins of Rancho Viejo, TX, Julie (Allan) Funk of Lincoln, Jeff Hudkins of Omaha, Jill (Scott) Boehler of Waverly, Bryan (Renee) Hudkins of Waverly, brother Donald Hudkins of Lincoln, grandchildren Alyssa (Cameron) Logan, Daniel Funk, Kimberly Funk, Brendan Hudkins, Carson Hudkins, Dylan Hudkins, Brianna (Taren) Kosmicki, Jordyn Boehler and Wade Hudkins, great-grandchildren Elijah and Ila Logan, Aydan Schmohr, Bryxtn Kosmicki, and best friends Cody Vance and Gus Delisi. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and wife Elizabeth.

 Memorial Service will be 11:00 am Monday, October 24, 2022, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo, NE. Memorials may be made to the family for a later designation.
