Joseph P. Hrdlicka, 64, of Mead died Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha.
He was born March 17, 1947, in Wahoo to Joseph and Josephine (Kadavy) Hrdlicka. He lived his early childhood in Yutan, Colon and Wahoo. He attended grade school at District 87 and graduated from Wahoo High School in 1965. He attended J.F. Kennedy College in Wahoo and earned his bachelor's degree in biology and education. He was employed at Green Acres Animal Clinic during high school. He was employed at Woodland Products in Mead as a foreman of pallet production. He then worked for Wahoo Built in sales of agriculture building and homes in Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. In recent years, he was self-employed with sales, service and installation of garage doors and overhead doors. He married Trudy Anderson on June 5, 1971, in Wahoo. They lived on a farm near Wahoo for seven years. They then built a home outside of Yutan. They moved to Mead in April 2001, where they still resided.
Survivors include: his wife, Trudy; daughters, Kellie (Travis) Backlund of Bennington and Jill Hrdlicka of Mead; mother, Josephine Hrdlicka of Wahoo; sisters, Ellen (George) Gervase, Inez (Dennis) Basic, all of Omaha, and Donna (Bobby) Fraiche of Metarie, La.; brothers, Tom (Jeanine) Hrdlicka of Wahoo and Ivan Hrdlicka of Austin, Texas; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
