John Berggren 1948 - 2019

WESTON – John R. Berggren was born Feb. 10, 1948 in Lincoln to Clarence and Frances (Bergman) Berggren. He attended Kennedy College in Wahoo for one year and married Maryann Pokorny on July 10, 1971 at Bethesda Covenant Church in Malmo. Over the years, he served on many civic, church and school boards. He owned and operated Weston Auto Sales.

John is survived by his wife, Maryann Berggren of Weston; children, Joel (Lisa) Berggren of Pleasanton, Amy (Ryan) Denton of Lincoln, Allison (Chad) Koranda of Wahoo, Jeremy (Stacy) Berggren of Weston, Alicia (Tim) Hoops of Windsor, Colo., Ashley (Tim) Laudenback of Omaha; his brother, Steve (Joan) Berggren of Wahoo; sister, Barbara Semrad of Wahoo; grandchildren, Jack and CeCe Berggren, Mason and Kenzie Koranda, Jaden and Tenley Berggren, Isabella and Drake Hoops; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Those who have preceded John in death include his parents; infant sister, Connie Jo Berggren; father and mother-in-law, Stanley and Frances Pokorny; brothers-in-law, Elmer Semrad and Johnny Pokorny; sisters-in-law, Betty Jane Pokorny and Joyce Pokorny.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with interment at Sunrise Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
